Tooth Colored Fillings

When new fillings are needed – or old ones need to be replaced – we use only tooth-colored materials to restore your teeth.

Why We Choose Metal-Free Materials

The number one reason is that dental amalgam – the components used to make “silver” fillings – is 50% mercury. Mercury is a potent neurotoxin and a persistent environmental contaminant. Because of its potential to harm human and planetary health alike, we choose not to use it. (And when we have to remove old mercury fillings, we practice strict safety protocols.)

More, older amalgam fillings have inevitable design flaws. They require the dentist to remove a lot of natural tooth structure, leaving the repaired tooth weaker than before. Meantime, the filling edges wear down, weaken, and break over time.

As a result, the filling no longer fits perfectly within the tooth, and new bacteria can spread, causing even more tooth decay.

So we use fluoride-free, BPA-free composite or ceramic instead. These materials have several advantages. Such fillings:

  • Are bonded to the teeth for superior fit.
  • Result in stronger, intact teeth.
  • Wear like natural teeth.

In fact, tooth-colored fillings are not only more beautiful than a mouth full of metal but also exceptionally strong due to new bonding techniques.
