Why are 2 and 45 such important numbers for oral health?

The key components to oral health include biannual cleanings at the office, daily brushing, and flossing. But there are a few numbers to know to keep your teeth in top condition: 2 and 45 are at the top of that list.

Brush thoroughly 2 times each day. When you first awake and right before bed are the most important times, but you’re welcome to brush after meals as well. 2 brushing sessions per day is the minimum for a healthy smile!

And when you brush, tilt your toothbrush at a 45° angle along the gum line and sweep away from it. You want to gently lift bacteria away from the gums and not toward it. Include brushing your tongue at the same 45° angle to remove bacteria there as well.

For the most basic aspect of oral health, remember 2 and 45. Brush twice daily at a 45° angle!
